Tip of the Day: Read ‘Mistrial’

by Eubie on June 6, 2013

We were up late the other night watching the education channel (no, really!) and happened to catch attorneys-of-the-stars Mark Geragos and Pat Harris hawking their new book Mistrial: An Inside Look at How the Criminal Justice System Works … And Sometimes Doesn’t, and then we skedaddled off to the local library the next day to pick up a copy. If you have an interest in our criminal justice system–and you should–then you should pick up a copy of this book, read it, and spread the word. Far too many innocent people–and even some who aren’t necessarily ‘innocent’–are getting hella screwed by our criminal justice system … and we use the term ‘justice’ ever-so-loosely here. Frightening!

I LOVED the book; it stayed with me for mhtons after I finished the last page. I found it refreshing but also heartbreaking that these times even existed. I would like to see the movie, but pleased I read the book first. I am sure it will be some time before I can see the movie in Spain 🙁 I am now reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks which is of a similar vein, but a true and heartbreaking story.
