Tip of the Day: Go for a Swim!

by Eubie on August 5, 2013

Summer is almost over but that’s no reason you can’t get a little wet. Of course there’s nothing like a dip in the pool outdoors to beat the heat, but swimming is a fitness activity you can do year-round (and you should!) Here’s a page from WebMD to get you motivated. Swimming is not only a good form of exercise, it’s easy on the body. Other dry-land activities bring with them risks of injury, such as jogging, which can be hard on the knees, ankles and hips. Weight-lifting is an excellent way to get in shape, lose weight, and build strength, but it also comes with its share of dangers (such as straining or overworking muscle groups, joints, and ligaments). But swimming has few downsides… well, too much chlorine ain’t good for you, but you can shower some of it off… or maybe you can find a pool that uses chlorine alternatives for sanitary purposes. Regardless, the benefits outweigh the dangers, so go ahead and get wet!
