Tip of the Day: WTF

by Eubie on October 2, 2013

A couple of weeks back, one of the mid-level cable stations (TBS, TNT, FX, AMC, etc., etc., etc… ) ran back-to-back-to-back showings of the film that catapulted Tom Cruise to super-stardom: Risky Business (1983). The movie is that rare combination of commercial success while maintaining the bona fides of a cult classic. Cruise’s iconic air guitar-slash-lip synching of Bob Seger’s “Old-Time Rock-n-Roll” is well-remembered and regarded, but the HUB favorite always has been the friendly advice offered by buddy Booger (or whatever the guy’s name is), advice that sets the story in motion: say ‘WTF.’ This is sound advice that we all can apply to our everyday lives, especially today. Say WTF, throw caution to the wind and take a risk. As Booger says, “freedom brings opportunity” and “opportunity makes your future.” Words to live by, Snot (American Dad! reference), words to live by.
