Tip of the Day: YMMV

by Eubie on October 9, 2013

Saw this on the InterWebs yesterday and just knew this would be of inestimable value to you, dear reader. Here are five things you need to know to improve gas mileage:

1) How you drive (flooring it/slamming on the breaks v. easing into acceleration/deceleration) impacts your mileage

2) Serious gas guzzlers are bad (can’t think of any other way to spin this second need-to-know tidbit… something about improving your mpg at the low end of the scale is better than improving it at the high end. Anyway, read the article and you’ll see what we’re saying)

3) The newer the car (any model), the better the gas mileage

4) EPA mpg ratings are not etched in stone. In other words, your mileage may vary (YMMV)

5) Plug-in electric cars are really cheap (comparatively speaking)
