Tip of the Day: Bowl

big-lebowski_dlThe last few weeks the Independent Film Channel (IFC) has been showing The Big Lebowski (1998). If you are remotely familiar with the movie, you know that bowling is at its center. Having recently watched the film, we were seized with a desire to hear the long rolling sound of ball on hardwood followed by the blissful explosion of pins. Try it, you won’t regret it. Not only is tossing a few balls a heckuva lot of fun, but bowling alleys continue to be hubs of social activity. Our nearest, a strikes-and-spares palace known as Kingpin Lanes, is something of a family amusement park: bowling, of course, with regular league play almost every night, a bar, and an arcade. Many bowling alleys come with similar setups. Ours also features karaoke nights and such for after your wrist wears out from all that rolling. Make sure you leave the lanes before you can no longer lift a beverage!

The Big Lebowski is great, but my favorite bowling flick has to be the Farrelly brothers’ Kingpin. Laughs galore?
